Chi Gung & Yoga

Join us for gentle movement practice to enliven and settle energy flow. We meet for Chi Gung every 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the month, and Yoga every 4th Sunday of the month, from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. in the Starr King Room, ending just before the Sunday night meeting. No experience required. There is no cost to attend.

Kitty Costello has been practicing and teaching Shaolin Ssu, a Mahayana Buddhist martial arts form, since 1979, and she has practiced insight meditation since 2000. She is a psychotherapist in private practice and has studied and taught chi gung, tai chi, and various eastern and western meditative practices for more than 20 years. Specific emphases in her teaching of chi gung include working with chronic tension and pain, emotional self-regulation, and mindfulness in the 4 classic postures of sitting, standing, walking, and lying down.

Patricia Diart

Patricia began her study of Iyengar yoga in 1993. Since 1997, she has studied Vinyassa yoga and in 2001 she began practicing Vipassana meditation. Her skills come from both the Iyengar and Vinyasa tradition where alignment, steadiness and overall awareness of the body/mind relationship are continually emphasized. Using a slow paced style and focusing on deep internal movements, she encourages her students to embrace each pose and each breath with compassion, and wholeheartedness.
